Kristine Bakke Westergaard, curator van de vaatplanten in NTNU, vond een hele boel bloeiende grasstengels, waar ze al meerdere dagen naar op zoek was.
Deze soort had als enige bekende vindplaats Prins Karlsforlandet en Ny-Ålesund. Op Prins Karlsforlandet had ze niets gevonden, alleen een zwaar begraasde vegetatie, In Ny-Alesund was in 2009 de enige vindplaats in één van de ganzen-exclosures. maar dit jaar vond ze meer dan 50 bloeistengels in de tweee laagste exclosures in Thiisbukta. Deze exclosures had ik in 2002 opgebouwd om het effect van de ganzenvraat op de vegetatie te meten in het FRAGILE project. Ik kende deze soort niet, maar Lise Fives noemde ook al deze soort in Thiisbulkta. De naam is Arctodupontia scleroclada, en de soort wordt gezien als een hybridisatie tussen Dupontia fisheri en Arctophila fulva. Kristine heeft enkele bloeistengels meegenomen voor DNA-onderzoek. De gehele vegetatie in Thiisbulta is zo zwaar begraasd door brandganzen dat het onmogelijk is om de soort te herkennen in de begraasde vegetatie. het is ook wel bijzonder dat de drie hoger gelegen exclosures juist in een hele andere richting zich hebben ontwikkeld. Dat zijn alle drie nu een monocustuur van een paardestaart Equisetum scripoides).
